Community Scale Solar Water Treatment “Sola Maji”

Following the successful operations of the first established Sola Maji in Ahero SWAP model village, a second solar powered water treatment unit was opened using ozonation in chuthber drawing river water from Kisian. Ongoing capacity building was done for the community based organization involving them in the management and supervision of the water operators. Water is sold to water vendors and individuals. SWAP’s lab did several quality checks ensuring the water is fit for human consumption. Site activities were done including product sales, tree nursery, car wash and offering meeting space to boost the income.
