natalieNathalie Houben is a trained lawyer from the Netherlands. After law she further specialized in health and obtained a Masters of Science in Health Systems Management from the London School of Tropical Medicine, (University of London). Her main area of expertise are setting up health systems in relation to HIV/AIDS in collaboration with the Kenyan Ministries of Health, Community Based Organizations and the Kenya Medical Training Colleges.

She has worked in Kenya since 1999 establishing and supporting a diverse range of HIV/AIDS programmes. She has been Country Director of Mildmay International – Kenya, a PEPFAR supported HIV/AIDS NGO with a multidisciplinary team of MD’s, nurses, counsellors and social workers specialising in Home Based Care and ARV’s. Furthermore she has contributed towards policy development in relation to national HIV/AIDS guidelines. She has piloted HIV/AIDS programmes in the Kenyan prisons, mobile VCT in the slums and assisted the Institute of Tropical Medicine in setting up HIV clinics for commercial sex workers.

Nathalie has been a Board Member of SWAK NYANZA,(the Society of Women and AIDS in Kenya), SANA (Safe Water programmes) and a secretary of HENNET. (Health NGO Network in Kenya).

Currently she is assisting to increase access to cash in the rural areas of Kenya through rolling out mobile cash transfers. (MPESA)

Nathalie has been a board member since March 2007.
