David Obor

M&E Coordinator


David Obor is a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer and a specialist in Health and Demographic Surveillance Systems (HDSS) with over 15 years of experience in research design, data management, and policy translation. As a PhD candidate at the University of Heidelberg’s Institute of Global Health, his research focuses on enhancing HDSS platforms to assess the health impacts of climate change in sub-Saharan Africa. With a Master’s in Demography and Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a background in agricultural economics, he brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to public health surveillance, socio-demographic analysis, and evidence-based policymaking. At SWAP, he serves as M&E Officer, where he plays a critical role in developing and implementing SWAP’s M&E strategy, supporting research, and contributing to grant writing and fundraising efforts. David is a Co-Principal Investigator in multiple high-impact research studies in partnership with SWAP, KEMRI, and LSHTM, including projects on menstrual solutions for schoolgirls, the impact of HIV prevention services, and innovative approaches to improving vaccination coverage. His work on HDSS has been instrumental in contributing to research work for determining child mortality causes through verbal autopsy and minimally invasive tissue sampling in Child And Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) sites. He is also actively involved in a longitudinal cohort study investigating the relationship between climate change and health using wearable technology in sub-Saharan Africa. With strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and a passion for data-driven health solutions, David continues to shape innovative research approaches that drive impactful public health interventions and policy development.
