The impact of poor menstrual hygiene on adolescent school girls and interventions to improve girls’ health and equity.
SWAP as part of a team led by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) participated in a study on menstrual hygiene on the impact of menstrual cups on adolescent girls sexual and reproductive health and schooling outcomes. This work has influenced the Kenyan national menstrual health policy and has been used globally, including leading to the formation of the Menstrual Cup Coalition. This work led to the team being nominated as finalists for the MRC Outstanding Team Impact Prize 2022.
